Read on for an introduction to the Enlightenment...

So the enlightenment. It came right after the reformation/renaissance and it was a time of EVEN MORE new ideas (nothing new there then) but it was a time when high thinkers were creating ideas of how to build a better world by using "human reason." (this was supposed to be the good natured thinking power of humans).

The enlightenment was a time of philosophy and there were lots of different philosophers such as Hobbes who thought humans were basically bad with a few good aspects, lock who thought humans were basically good with a few bad aspects and voltaire who thought humans were just crazy and who knew why they did anything.

There was alot of intertesting monarchs in those times as well. such as the sun king of france louis the 14th. This greedy moron was more concerened with food dancing wine and women. He was the one who ultimately bankrupted france with these obsessions. He didn't care if his people were starving and dying. as far as he was conerened they did not exist. Quote... "I am france." Oh dear...

Did you know that at one point a pope of the vatican took a hammer and knocked off all the statues genitals in the vatican.
